The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC) with headquarters in the Ilupeju area of Lagos has officially named Jimmy Odukoya as its new Senior Pastor. The decision was unveiled during a church service held on Sunday, marking a significant transition in the leadership of the renowned church.
Jimmy Odukoya is the son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and Bimbo Odukoya, both well-respected figures in the church community. This announcement comes in the wake of the passing of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the former Senior Pastor of TFOLC, who tragically died in the United States in August 2023 at the age of 67. His departure left a void in the church’s leadership and congregation.

Rotimi Okpaise, a prominent pastor within TFOLC, revealed that Pastor Taiwo Odukoya had previously shared his succession plan with the church’s Board of Trustees (BoT). Following extensive discussions, the BoT unanimously elected Jimmy Odukoya to assume the position of Senior Pastor and Chairperson of the board.
Speaking to the congregation, Pastor Okpaise stated, “The board has chosen Saturday, September 30, 2023, as the date for Jimmy’s installation”
Jimmy Odukoya’s appointment as Senior Pastor comes as the church mourns the loss of its founding pastor. He is inheriting a legacy of faith, leadership, and community service from his father, and the congregation eagerly anticipates his leadership.
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya has faced his share of personal losses. Less than two years prior to his death, he endured the loss of his 47-year-old South African wife, Nomthi Odukoya, in November 2021 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. The couple was married for 11 years and had two children. In December 2021, the pastor also lost his twin sister, Kehinde Hassan, to cancer.
Before his marriage to Nomthi, Jimmy’s father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, had been married to Bimbo Odukoya for 21 years. Tragically, Bimbo Odukoya lost her life in the Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, in 2005.
Apart from his pastoral responsibilities, Jimmy Odukoya has made a name for himself as a Nigerian actor and musician. He notably played the leading role of Oba Ade in Netflix’s acclaimed ‘Woman King’ movie. His talents have also been showcased in films such as ‘Lifting the Veil,’ ‘I am Nazzy,’ ‘Oga Pastor,’ and more. Additionally, he is recognized as a motivational speaker, further extending his influence and impact beyond the church.
The appointment of Jimmy Odukoya as Senior Pastor marks a new chapter in the history of The Fountain of Life Church. As he takes on this prominent role, the congregation, along with well-wishers, hopes for continued spiritual growth and prosperity under his leadership.
