ABSU Thanksgiving: Professor Uche-Eme, Appreciates VC, Canvases Support For Abia Governor

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Abia State Professor Uche Eme-Uche has extended her warm wishes to the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu Professor Ndukwe James Okeudu and the entire Absu Community.

Professor Eme-Uche was a special guest of honour during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service organized to appreciate God for the appointment of Professor Okeudo as Vice Chancellor of the University, peaceful entrance into 2025 and successful conclusion of 2023/2024 Academic session of the institution.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Mrs Chinyere Okeziem-Nwoko,Esq, extended her deepest gratitude for the Vice Chancellor’s dedicated leadership, unwavering commitment, and remarkable contributions in making the university an envy of other institutions.

The Commissioner while appreciating Okeudo’s vision and tireless efforts to inspire and uplift everyone in the university community and beyond, reiterated Governor Alex Otti’s Commitment and continued support in changing ugly narratives of the University.

The Tertiary Education Commissioner revealed that Governor Otti’s love for Education made him to allocate 20% of 2025 total budget to education, adding that Absu will witness total positive turnaround in 2025 and solicited the unflinching support of the University community to the Governor.

She therefore, prayed that the season bring the university community joy, peace, and happiness they truly deserve.

In his homily titled ” Our Call and Commission to Servant Leadership the State Overseer, Deeper Life Bible Church,Owerri, Imo State Pastor Emmanuel Okoro, called on Professor Okeudo to be selfless, examplary and courageous in the discharge of his functions as the Vice- Chancellor so as to fulfill the purpose of his appointment.

Pastor Okoro who regretted that Selfishness and worldly pleasure have eroded godly principles and Servant Leadership, urged him to remain steadfast no matter the envy and what may come.

He further call on Professor Okeudo to perform God’s pleasure and consistently stay on godly principles to make people around him happy.

Speaking, the Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Abia State University, Rt. Hon Agwu U Agwu, appreciated the management, students and the entire university community for their support so far.

Hon Agwu applauded the visitor to the University and Governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his tireless effort in transforming the institution and informed the school that Absu would become a brand new University in the next one year.

Also speaking, Member representing Bende North State Constituency Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, challenged the Vice Chancellor to bring innovative and inventive ideas that will set a roadmap, resonate and inspire others in the comity of education.

The thanksgiving attracted notable personalities including Senator Ike Omar Sanda Nwachukwu , represented by Ambassador Steven O Emejuaiwe, Deputy Vice- Chancellors of Academics and Administration in Absu, Professors E. I Akubugwo and Joshua U Ogbonna, Deputy Vice- Chancellor Academics,Gregory University Professor Uwaoma Uche, wife of Absu Vice Chancellor Professor Bernadine Okeudo, members of Absu Governing Council, Senate ,representatives of ASUU and SSANU among others.

Intercessory prayers were offered for Abia State governor Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR and Abia State government, the Vice- Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Principal Officers of the University, Members of Senate , Students, Abia State and Nigeria.
