ABSU Dismisses Claims of Manual Hostel Allocation for Fresh Students

The Management of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has refuted a viral message circulating on social media claiming that online hostel allocation for fresh students has been discontinued.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar and Public Relations Officer of the University, Chijioke Nwogu, the Management described the information, captioned “No More Online Hostel Allocation for Freshers,” as false, misleading and unauthorized, stressing that it did not originate from the institution or any of its recognized offices.

Following verification with relevant university authorities, ABSU Management reaffirmed that hostel approval and allocation for fresh students remain strictly an online process, in line with earlier directives. The university clarified that no approval has been granted for a switch to manual hostel allocation at the Student Affairs Division or any other unit, contrary to claims in the circulating message.

The university advised students and members of the public to disregard the publication in its entirety, warning that acting on unverified information could result in inconvenience, financial loss or administrative complications.

Management further reminded students that only official communications issued through recognized university channels should be relied upon for information regarding hostel allocation and other academic or administrative matters.

The statement added that any further updates, if necessary, would be communicated appropriately through official channels.
