Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has received the report from the task force on accreditation of the Abia state Polytechnic Aba with an assurance that recommendations would be studied and implemented to the later.
Recall that the Constitution of the taskforce team headed by Prof. Ikechi Mgboji, with members including Dr. John Nwadioha,Hon. Jude Udeachara,Rev.Fr. Kelechi Anyanwu,Mrs Love Ezema, and Mr Stanley Nwankpa (SUG) President of Abiapoly followed
the deacreditation of the institution by the NBTE few months ago.
The taskforce had its terms of reference to include:the restoration of accreditation of the Abia State Polytechnic within 30days among others duties.
Receiving the report from the taskforce at the Governor’s Lodge,Aba the Governor congratulated members of the task force for a job well done.
He noted that the issue of staff rationalization must continue unabated and urged students of the polytechnic to always hold the management accountable.
The Governor who reaffirmed that his adminstration would continue to pay subvention of the polytechnic,challenged Management and Council of Abia State Polytechnic to seat up.
Earlier while presenting the report to the Governor, the chairman of the task force Professor Ikechi Mgbeoji said that the deacreditation of Abia State Polytechnic few months ago came as a rude shock and expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing the sum of four hundred and fifty million naira with which the polytechnic was bailed out.
He disclosed that the task force verified staff of the polytechnic as well as paid their salary in addition to identifying the challenges confronting the Polytechnic and proffering solutions to them.
