It was a moment of thanksgiving and praise to God as the founder Vision Africa Radio, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, celebrated his 60th birthday anniversary.
The event which witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries across Nigeria,including the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, kick started with a Church dedication and Holy Communion Service at St John’s Methodist Church,Okai Item, followed by the foundation laying of new structures at Agnes Onuoha Memorial Hospital and the hallmark of the event which was the grand reception organized by the people of Item in honour of the Cleric,who they said, had made meaningful contributions in moving the Item Community forward.
In his opening remarks at the Grand Reception held at the Community Primary School,Okai Item in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, the chairman on the occasion, Chief Johnson Chukwu,praised the sterling qualities of Bishop Sunday Onuoha, whom he attested, has been a very important tool in the development of Item land.
He said the celebration of the Cleric was apt and prayed for God’s continuous protection and favour upon his life.
In an interview with some of the guests in attendance, the Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Agriculture, Dr Cliff Agbaeze, described the celebrant as one who has given so much to the society and admonished him to keep up with the good work, praying God to grant him long life in good health.
The Immediate Past President General of Item Development Association, who succeeded Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Kingsley Ogba Nwokoro, described the celebrant as a great ambassador of Item land and a man of many works.
According to him, Bishop Sunday Onuoha is in the church as a Bishop, in the community as a community leader and in the larger society as an inspiration, mentor and a developer of humanity. “He is a great man,he has represented Item globally, which has successfully put Item in a global map.
“Today is the day we have chosen to appreciate him for the meritorious services he has been doing for the community. He is a trail blazer in the development of Item. This is why people turned up for this birthday celebration. The former President was here, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Representatives of state Governors and top political office holders were here, the nine President Generals in Item were also here.
“My prayer for him, is to live longer, achieve more and continue with those good works he has been doing for the people of Item,which made the people to honour him this way. We have not had this kind of celebration for anyone in Item before”, he disclosed.
Equally, the chairman of the Nine President Generals Forum, Chief Ebere Ali, the Dike Ji Mba 1 of Item, stated that Bishop Onuoha is a man of substance, who has been helping the entire nine villages that make up Item, stating that his mark in every community of Item has been visible and prayed God to keep him, describing him as an easy going man, who does not look
at societal class,but associates with everyone.
Meanwhile, the President General of Amaokwe Item Welfare Union, Prince Harrison Eze Okorie, said Item community decided to celebrate Bishop Sunday Onuoha for his tireless contributions in developing and bringing peace in Item.
According to him,the celebrant, contributed in uniting the people of Item and made their voice to be heard. He described him as a man of honour, a philanthropist and a man of integrity, praying God to give him more strength and wisdom as he advances.
