Abia Wins Best Performing State In COVID-19 Vaccination In The South-East Zone

Abia state has won the Best Performing State in COVID-19 vaccination in the South East Zone of Nigeria.

Today, Friday 26 August 2022, by 2pm at Ladi Kwali Hall Sheraton Hotel Abuja, the Abia state Commissioner for Health Dr Joe Osuji, accompanied by the Executive Secretary Abia state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Chinagozi Adindu, will on behalf of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, receive, “The Immunization Performance Award” as “Best Performing State in COVID-19 Vaccination in the South East Zone”.

The invitation for the award coming on the heels of their brilliant performance in COVID -19 vaccination was communicated to his Excellency the Executive Governor of Abia State via a letter referenced NPHCDA/429/S.I, dated 15 August and signed by Dr Faisal Shuaib, Executive Director/CEO, National Primary Health Care Development Agency.

The letter reads in part:

“I am glad to inform your Excellency that Abia State emerged the best performing state in Covid- 19 vaccination in the South East Zone.
Congratulations your Excellency.
The awards is for the States performance during the Covid- 19 SCALE 1.0 and 2.0 Vaccination roll out.
We hope that your state will maintain the outstanding implementation during the ongoing SCALES 3.0.
The state will receive the Immunization Performance Recognition Award during the celebration of 2022 African Vaccination Week and commemoration of the Three Years Post MPV free certification.
We look forward to receiving your Excellency and your winning team.
Once again congratulations your Excellency. Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”
