Abia Will Be On Faster Lane Of Development Under My Watch- Prof Ikonne Promises

The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State Professor Uche Eleazar Ikonne has said that Abia State will be put on a faster lane of development under his watch as Abia State Governor.

Professor Ikonne made the promise during the inauguration of the Area Executive of Bible Society of Nigeria Abia State led by the Bishop of Isiala Ngwa Diocese of Anglican Communion His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Isaac C. Nwaobia and award giving to deserving individuals who have contributed towards the progress of God’s cause in Abia State, held At St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral Owerrinta Isiala Ngwa South Diocese.

Ikonne who was represented by the Commissioner for Housing in Abia State and Coordinator Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organization Isiala Ngwa South chapter Elder Chinagorom Nwankpa, appreciated the executive and members of the Bible Society of Nigeria for the recognition and award of Ambassador of Christ bestowed on him.

The PDP governorship candidate while congratulating the organization on their election urged them to always pray and support his quest towards a greater Abia State.

He thanked Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD for laying a solid foundation for the development of Abia State.

Ikonne promised to continue all the good works of the present administration when elected in 2023.

Abia PDP governorship candidate congratulated the new executive of the Bible Society of Nigeria on their election and successful inauguration and wished them a successful tenure.

The Prestigious Award of Ambassader for Christ was presented to him
in recognition of his contributions and supports towards the growth of God’s work, Bible society of Nigeria and humanity.

In his address, the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Abia State area His Grace Most Rev Dr Isaac C Nwaobia, appreciated all who graced the occasion.

Most Reverend. Nwaobia revealed that the memorable event, inauguration and Award Day Celebration was observed in Abia State 4years ago, but the anticipated impact on the people of Abia was hardly realized, hence the earnest desire of the leadership of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Abia Area to organize an Assembly to acquaint people of the programmes and activities of the Bible Society of Nigeria which is to meet the Scriptural needs of every Nigerian in general, Christian Churches and confessions in particular and to help people interact with the word of God.

The Anglican Bishop stated that the theme for day’s assembly was “LET DO A NEW THING” which he said was the wish of the new executives to do a new thing in Bible Society of Nigeria ,Abia Area by making the Society a household name in our schools, churches and private organizations, being effective in Bible distribution and making the Bible affordable.

Most Rev Nwaobia said that it was impossible to realize their plan unless the word of God takes its rightful place in the hearts of men and women.

According to Nwobia the Bible Society of Nigeria Abia has gone a long way, but are yet to firmly stand on their feet and therefore appealed to the Government of Abia State and Awardees to Donate, allocate a piece of land for their Secretariat.

He stated that the society needs a vehicle to help distribute the Bible more effectively and a revolving fund of N10 million naira for Bible distribution.

Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of awards to deserving individuals including the Governor of Abia State Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Abia Central Col. Austin Akobundu RTD, among other awardees.

The representative of Professor Uche Ikonne was accompanied by Dr Chinatu Njoku, GM Abia CSDA and State director Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organization, Chief Israel Amanze, Programme Manager ADP among other high powered delegation.
