The general public is hereby informed that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of September holds on Saturday, September 30th, 2023 in Abia State between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except for those on essential duties, who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
The Head of Service of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the state are required to present on demand valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
All markets, motor Parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday, September 29, 2023, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. to carry out their own cleanup exercise.
The Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take-off for deployment.
The release further directs people are to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose masks and that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
