Abia Tertiary Education Ministry Applauds Gov Otti on Second Anniversary, Celebrates Transformational Strides

The Ministry of Tertiary Education has extended warm congratulations to His Excellency, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, on the occasion of his second anniversary in office, commending his visionary leadership and transformative impact on the state’s education sector.

In a joint statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner, Professor Uche Eme-Uche, and the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Chinyere Okeziem-Nwoko, the Ministry praised the Governor’s unwavering commitment to development and inclusive governance, particularly in the area of tertiary education.

The Ministry highlighted significant achievements under the Governor’s watch, including:

  • Renovation of long-neglected hostels at Abia State University (ABSU)
  • Construction of new academic and administrative structures at ABSU and Ogbonnaya Onu University of Science and Technology, Aba
  • Comprehensive upgrade of the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu
  • Restoration and securing of full accreditation for Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, and ABSU
  • Regular payment of salaries and clearance of salary arrears for tertiary institution staff
  • Unprecedented allocation of 25% of the state’s total budget to education
