Abia State Will Witness Continued Transformation — Gov Otti Assures at Methodist Synod

The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the ongoing transformation and development of the state.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, Governor Otti conveyed this assurance during the 15th Diocesan Synod of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Umuabali, Ezeleke Circuit, Diocese of Umuahia West. The synod, themed “He Will Rise Again”, was held at All Saints Methodist Church, Umuabali.

Governor Otti noted the significance of the synod’s theme, drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Lazarus’ resurrection. He likened it to the revival taking place in Abia State, where, according to him, moribund systems are being brought back to life through focused leadership and governance.

He highlighted several achievements of his administration, including the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and the execution of massive road construction projects across all three senatorial zones of the state. These, he said, are signs of the dividends of democracy being delivered to the people.

The Governor also commended the Methodist Church for its enduring role in fostering spiritual growth and moral development in the state, urging the church to remain steadfast in its prayers for the government and people of Abia.

In his address, the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dennis Okey, described the synod’s theme as timely, especially in view of the current national uncertainties. He expressed confidence that, through continued prayers and the transformative leadership of Governor Otti, both Abia and Nigeria at large will experience revival and progress.

Delivering the keynote lecture, the Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, encouraged Nigerians to sustain hope and work collectively for national renewal. He emphasized the values of unity, perseverance, and faith as critical tools for overcoming the country’s challenges.

The 15th Diocesan Synod brought together clergy, laity, and distinguished guests who reaffirmed their commitment to spiritual and societal development.
