Abia State Public Procurement Bureau Reels Out Remarkable Progress Under Gov Otti’s Administration

The Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Due Process, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, has shared exciting updates on the significant strides being made in the state’s procurement and due process systems, stating that they are working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the vision for the New Abia is realized.

In an exclusive interview, Dr Chukwu revealed that the Public Procurement Bureau is undergoing transformative changes aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government transactions.

According to Dr Chukwu, the Bureau is currently registering vendors and tractors, a move designed to streamline procurement activities and open the door for more private sector participation in government business.

He, however, highlighted that the administration is introducing vital reforms, including the development of a State Procurement Index and a State Procurement Journal to institutionalize best practices.

One of the most impactful initiatives is the planned launch of an e-procurement portal, which he stated would digitize procurement processes and reduce bureaucracy. “We have created 11 departments and brought on board trained professionals who are committed to their duties daily”, Dr Chukwu disclosed.

He also noted that the Bureau is actively issuing certificates of no objection and other procurement documentation that were previously non-existent. “All of these reforms are in line with Governor Alex Otti’s vision to not only transform the physical infrastructure of the state but also to rebuild systems and processes for good governance”, he emphasized.

Dr Chukwu reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to supporting the Governor’s agenda, adding that the office is working diligently behind the scenes to ensure his vision for a new Abia is fully realized.
