Abia State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling for the clearing of the bushes along the Isuikwuato – Uturu – Umunneochi road to make for a clearer Vision along the area.
Announcing the resolution on the floor of the House, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa said this will serve as a step towards making the axis more uncomfortable for criminal elements who hide under the cover of such bushes to terrorize the people and road users and give the road users and security operatives a clearer vision around the area.
The resolution was a sequel to a Matter of Urgent Public Importance on the incessant kidnapping cases and killings which has been taking place along the Isuikwuato – ABSU -Uturu – Umunneochi roads calling for urgent government intervention to protect the lives of the people of the area and road users brought before the House by the member for Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Johnson.
The House also passed a resolution urging the State Government to rehabilitate and equip some Primary Healthcare Centres across Ikwuano LGA and to deploy more qualified medical and healthcare personnel to them to save lives and prevent avoidable deaths in the area.
This followed a motion by the member representing Ikwuano State Constituency, Hon. Boniface Isienyi on the need to rehabilitate and equip the dilapidated healthcare facilities across Ikwuano, decrying the terrible condition of healthcare facilities and shortage of healthcare personnel in the area which has led to a lot of avoidable deaths and prayed the House to urgently intervene.
On the motion to address estimated electricity billing and ensure availability of prepaid meters in the State brought before the House by the member for Umuahia Central State Constituency Hon. Anthony Chinasa, the House resolved to invite the managers of EEDC in the State and the officer in charge of the State office of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission in an executive session of the House to elicit from their reasons for the outrageous estimated billing and high cost of procuring prepaid meters as well as its shortage.
Hon. Anthony Chinasa had lamented over the fraudulent practice of outrageous estimated billing over the amount fixed by the regulatory agency and the unavailability of prepaid meters and urged the House to look into the matter.
