Abia state govt reviews industrialization policy,plans to set up vehicle manufacturing plant

Abia state government says it is poised to set up a vehicle manufacturing plant in Aba,the commercial centre of the state soon.

Commissioner for Information,Chief John Okiyi Kalu disclosed this while briefing journalists at Government House Umuahia, on the outcome of the first executive council meeting by the reconstituted Executive council.

According to the Commissioner, Exco reviewed the industrialization policy of the state with regards to the setting up of a vehicle manufacturing plant in Aba,adding that the project which is a public private partnership venture between Abia state government and a Chinese company is a direct foreign investment to the state.

He said that some investors from Brazil and other parts will soon be opening shop in the state soon.

The commissioner further disclosed that the new EXCO which was welcomed by the Governor was briefed on the economic blueprint of the state and the need to inntergrate the efforts of the ministries to ensure that better results are achieved.

He said that a number of projects were reviewed and approved by the EXCO including street lighting project covering most part of Urban Umuahia as well as approval for about 8other roads in Aba.

Mr Kalu said the members of the executive council expressed their commitment to work with the governor to realize the set target.
