Abia State Government Takes Delivery of Medical Supplies from Abroad

Abia State government has received yet another shipment of medical equipment worth millions of naira from Dr Chima Nwaobilor, an Abia born medical doctor resident in the United Kingdom.

The donation is following the call by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for Abians across the world to support the efforts of the State Government in different spheres of the economy.

The supplies include High Resolution Ultra Sound Machines, Haemodialysis Machines, Equipment for resuscitation, Mobile Monitors, Ventilators, Different kinds of electric and manual beds, etc.

Personal Physician to the Governor, Dr Michael Enyinnaya who is also in charge of coordinating supplies and ensuring their distribution across hospitals in the state, described the gift as huge adding that it will go a long way in boosting Medicare in the State.

Dr. Enyinnaya while disclosing that this was the fifth time the State was receiving such supplies, free of charge, from Abians in the diaspora said the cost of the medical items runs in “several tens and tens of millions”.

According to him, the supplies, like previous ones, will be distributed across the different strata of the medical system from the primary health care centers up to the tertiary levels.

Dr Enyinnaya, on behalf of the Governor expressed profound gratitude to the donor, who coordinated the collection and movement of the medical equipment to Nigeria and urged other good spirited Abians, especially those living abroad to emulate the good gesture.
