Abia stakeholders react to Ikpeazu ‘s victory, commend INEC on peaceful conduct of elections. By Amarachi Uzoukwu

On the heels of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of incumbent Governor of Abia State Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as winner of Saturday March 9th Gubernatorial election,Stakeholders in the state have continued to react to the victory.

Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, the
Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ukpai Agwu Ukpai described the governor’s victory as well deserved while assuring Abians that Governor Ikpeazu ‘s second tenure will be better than the last.

“Abians should expect better dividends of democracy”.he said.

On the rejection of the election result by two of the opposition parties,Ukpai said,”the gap is so wide for any reasonable person to challenge. It is good for Abians not to challenge the result of the election. Everybody should calm down and support the incumbent governor so that we can have a rancor free tenure to enable him take Abia to greater heights”.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce,Chief Charles Ogbonnaya,in his submission, expressed optimism that governor Ikpeazu will fulfill his campaign promises to the people of the State and assured them to be patient with the governor.

Ogbonnaya however adviced those who lost in the elections to channel their resources to helping the less privileged noting that litigation will slow down the wheel of progress and development in the state.

Also reacting, the former Chairman of Bende LGA, Okereke Elendu while congratulating Governor Ikpeazu urged him to pay greater attention in the areas of workers welfare and infrastructural development which the opposition parties used to campaign against him.

Meanwhile, the speaker, state House of Assembly, Mr Chinwendu Kanu,member representing Isialangwa North and South, Hon Darlington Nwokocha,former Deputy Governor, Chris Akomas and the commissioner for works, Hon Eziuche Ubani have commended INEC for the peaceful conduct of the elections.

While thanking Abians for the massive turnout during the governorship election which culminated in governor Ikpeazu ‘s victory, they urged Abians to continue in their support for the PDP assuring them of better days ahead.
