Abia Speaker says village heads are integral part of government

 

Community Leaders have been described as a fulcrum and an integral part of the government that should not be relegated to the background.

 

The Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Chikwendu Kalu, who stated this in a heart-to-heart meeting with the Village Heads and Chairmen of various Communities in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, described them as indispensable  leaders that shouldn’t be neglected in decision making and the leadership affairs of the States and Federal Governments.

 

 

While underscoring their importance in communities in reaching the grassroots Kalu, urged them not to be deterred by the postponement of the February 16 polls but enjoined them to turnout en masse come February 23, to vote in candidates of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for quality representation.

He further promised the community leaders that if reelected into the State Assembly that he would sponsor bills in their favour that would make them an integral part of the State government leadership and decision-making.

 

 

Highlighting his achievements since elected as a State lawmaker cum the Speaker of Abia House of Assembly, Kalu pointed out that he had attracted numerous life-touching projects, constructed and rehabilitated many rurals roads, built houses for indigent widows, empowered many indigenes of Isiala Ngwa South adding that there are about 45 Liaison officers and Special Assistants under his payroll among other human oriented projects done in his constituency.

 

Lending their voices, Mr. Simeone Onwukwe, Augustine Iroha, Elder Gideon Amanze and Chief Gabriel Nwaogwugwu all voiced that they are aware of the humanitarian projects of the Member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency and assured him of their unalloyed support in the coming elections.

They unanimously promised to reelect him and all the PDP candidates come February 23 and March 9, respectively and also requested that security be beefed in the areas to ensure violent free elections.
