Abia Speaker calls for unity of Ndigbo

The Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji has called on Ndigbo to be united so as to get their due in the country.

 

Orji who made the call in an interaction with the Aba Provincial Council of the Anglican Communion, comprising of all the Anglican bishops in the state held at St Stephen’s Anglican Cathedral, Umuahia, noted that if Ndigbo would be united and speak with one voice, no group or tribe will intimidate or overrun them.

 

He stressed the need for religious leaders to utilize their God given position to mobilise the people for good and desist from using the pulpit to run leaders down, but preach unity, justice and advise the leaders properly while praying for them, for the rapid transformation of the zone and country.

The Speaker while encouraging Ndigbo against living in fear, assured that the state House of Assembly under his leadership will play their part effectively and assist the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to develop the state.

 

Speaking earlier, the Anglican Archbishop, Aba Ecclesiastical Province and bishop of Umuahia, the Most Rev. Ikechi Nwosu said their engagement as a Provincial Council with the Speaker was to pray for, and encourage him and other political office holders to assist the Church and the populace overcome the present security and other challenges confronting them, noting that as Church leaders, they stand in the gap between the leaders and the followers as well as between men and God.

The Speaker was accompanied to the interactive session by the member for Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Jerry Uzosike and his Ikwuano counterpart, Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi.
