Abia Police Command Joins Forces with COREN to Combat Engineering Quackery

In a decisive effort to enhance public safety and uphold professional standards, the Abia State Police Command has announced its commitment to supporting the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in the crackdown on unqualified engineering practitioners across the state.

This development follows a courtesy visit by the Abia State Technical Committee of COREN to the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia. The delegation, led by Committee Chairman, Engr. Victor Ihediwa, FNSE, sought to foster closer collaboration with the Police in enforcing engineering regulations and curbing the rising threat of quackery in the field.

During the meeting, Engr. Ihediwa underscored the critical danger posed by unlicensed individuals masquerading as engineers, warning of the risks to both human lives and infrastructure. He stressed the importance of institutional partnerships in eliminating this menace and strengthening compliance with professional standards.

The collaboration signals a renewed drive to safeguard the integrity of engineering practice in Abia State, ensuring that only qualified professionals are entrusted with roles critical to public safety and infrastructure development.
