The people of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, have been assured of more democratic dividends under the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration.
The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia State, Rt Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere, who gave the assurance, after the people of the Local Government Area, decried marginalization and non inclusiveness in governance, promised them of the party’s intervention.
Reacting to the demands made by the stakeholders, during the PDP Sensitization cum Familiarization visit to the area, the party chairman said their appeals would be given adequate attention because the people of the area deserves the best.
The State PDP chairman further noted that the purpose of the visit was to intimate the area of the activities of the party, so that they can be in tune with the party,so as to form a strong base for the party in Ikwuano
According to Rt. Hon Okere, the party has the vision of recovering all her lost seats, including the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat.
He, however, urged the Ikwuano people to remain steadfast in their support for the party.
Earlier in their Speeches, the former PDP National Organizing Secretary,Col Austin Akobundu Rtd, the Member representing Ikwuano State Constituency,Hon Stanley Nwabuisi, the Commissioner for Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon Obinna Okey, the Ikwuano PDP Chairman, Hon Obioma Igwe, Real Admiral Ralph Osondu Rtd, the former T.C chairman Ikwuano LGA, Ezinne Ngozi Orji and the former member representing Ikwuano State Constituency, Hon Wisdom Ogbonnaya, drew the attention of the State Working Committee of the PDP to the challenges faced in Ikwuano.

According to them,the people of Ikwuano have not been appointed into key positions,just like other Local Government in the state, revealing that most of the social amenities in the area have gone bad and inaccessible.

“Our roads are undone,our people are marginalized.Ikwuano is excluded from the benefits of power”.
The Stakeholders while commending the party for bringing on board youths to head certain political positions, changing the narrative in the Local Government, called on the party to also allow women involve actively in politics.
Also, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon Stephen Mpamugo, while welcoming the party, outlined some of the projects done by his administration, pledging support to the party.

In an Interview with the Press,the member representing Ikwuano State Constituency at the Abia House of Assembly, Hon Stanley Nwabuisi,expressed delight over the tour to his Local government,which he said would help reawake, sensitize the people that the party still exist and also afford members the opportunity to have an interface with the party.

Hon Nwabuisi further stated that his people should be properly integrated into the government of today.
In his words,”Ikwuano deserves the best.We are not asking for too much.All we are saying is that, the same opportunities given to other Local government, should also be extended to Ikwuano. We are only asking for equity,fairness and justice”.
The Lawmaker further disclosed that Ikwuano is PDP and would continue to support the party as long as their interest is protected.
In her opinion, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Identity Matters, Mrs Glad Apugo Osoagbaka, commended the Leadership of the Party, under the watch of Rt.Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere, for initiating the tour across the 17 LGAs of the state, which she said would give the grassroot a sense of belonging and as well, help stir up the zeal of party members across board.
She revealed that the Ikwuano LGA has outlined their challenges, pleading that the government should give their assistance,so that the party can gain more grounds in area.
A grassroot mobilizer and founder Onyenucheya Grassroot Movement (OGM), Dr Chukwuemeka Onyenucheya, said his organization has been on its best galvanizing support for the PDP and the Governor of the State, stressing that men of integrity should be appointed into key positions in Ikwuano, so that when the Governor sends dividend of democracy,it can get to the people. He disclosed that his group would continue to support the PDP.
