The People’s Democratic Party in Abia State, has inaugurated a 10 man Reconciliation
Committee to help reconcile contestants who are aggrieved over the outcome of the just concluded PDP primary elections.
The committee which would be chaired by a former PDP State Chairman, Chief Ndidi Okereke, has Mr Tony Ezebuiro,as the secretary, while Amb Empire Kanu, Rev Dr Williams Onyema Agbai, Barr Theo Nkire, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley,Mr. Ike Onyenwaku, Rt. Hon C. O Enweremadu and Princess Grace Agbara as memebers.
In a release signed by the State Vice Chairman/ Acting State Publicity, Elder Amah Abraham,the Party, informed that the State Working Committee (SWC) and enlarged State Executive Committee(SEC), of the PDP, met with all the flag bearers of the Party for the 2023 general elections and also set up a reconciliation committee to bridge the gap between the party and aggrieved members.
In his remarks, the State Party Chairman, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere, while inaugurating the Abia PDP Reconciliation Committee, tasked the members to quickly embark on a reconciliation process to reconcile aggrieved members with the Party and bring them into the “One Big Family” PDP is known for.
Okere reminded the members that the PDP as a Party is in a better position to outshine its contemporaries given the number of years it has survived as a Party.
He charged the committee to immediately reconcile all aggrieved members that contested the last primarily election and lost, saying that everyone cannot be winners at the same time.
The Party chairman, however,advised the PDP flag bearers in various areas to reach out to those who conducted the election with them.
He noted that the members of the committee were carefully selected,with proven track record,based on integrity, competence and commitment, assuring that they would deliver on the given task.
Okere further informed the committee to submit an interim report within one month, pending when a comprehensive report would be made available, calling on the various flag bearers of the party,to work with the party’s structure, as well as mobilize support for the party in their respective locations.
Responding on behalf of the Committee,the chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Chief Ndidi Okereke, thanked the party for finding them worthy to saddle the committee, promising to deliver on the mandate given to them.
The PDP guber candidate Prof. Uchenna Ikonne, who was represented by his running mate Barr. Okey Igwe, encouraged all the flag bearers to work closely with the Party and should not take the Party’s national outlook as a guarantee for victory.
He assured the members of the SWC, SEC and the flag bearers that he would soon unveil his programmes to Ndi Abia.
In an interview with newsmen, Chief Ndidi Okereke,narrated how the committee would go about their assignment, saying they are ready to reach out to everyone who lost, including those who have left the party, adding that even though they have picked tickets in other parties, seeing that there is no need leaving the PDP, they might come back, moreso, that the PDP has all it takes to win.
He, however, assured the party that the committee would carry out its duties diligently, in line with its mandate, of reconciling all aggrieved stakeholders and contestants across the various Local Government Areas.
The Reconciliation Committee are PDP veterans who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavours.
