The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abia State, has debunked the rumour making the round that the party had already zoned the 2023 Governorship seat.

In a Communique jointly signed by the State Chairman of the party, Rt.Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere and the State PDP Secretary, Barr David Iro and issued to newsmen by the State Publicity Secretary, Chief Fabian Nwankwo, after an emergency meeting held at the Party’s State Secretariat in Umuahia, the party disclosed that it has not zoned the state governorship seat to any particular section or zone within the state, therefore, Abians should disregard any baseless rumours making the round.

The Communique further stated that the party which is constitutionally saddled with such sole responsibility of zoning, is still consulting stakeholders of the party on the matter.

The Communique explained further that the ongoing sensitization cum familiarization tours of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state by the PDP state exco, was part of its consultation with the PDP chieftains, stressing that, as soon as the party concludes the consultation, it will take vital decisions for progress of the party.
