Abia Newspapers GM cries out to Govt

The Acting General Manager of Abia Newspaper and Publishing Corporation, Mr. Kingsley Ugorji, has appealed to Abia State Government to aid the Corporation with working materials for efficient service delivery.

Ugorji who made the plea while speaking with journalists at the Abia House of Assembly Complex during the Budget defence exercise disclosed that the situation of the corporation is pathetic.
He expressed displeasure that they had no basic printing materials and vital equipment to work with as a media outfit.
“There’s virtually nothing to work with, the printing machines are not there, our computers are obsolete, no functional and digital cameras and so on; we can’t even maintain our weekly publication as a result of these handicaps”, he stated.
The General Manager further stated that the efforts the staff are making towards producing the newspaper depicts hard work, commitment and determination to work adding that they appear to have been forgotten based on the level of interest the State government shows in the establishment.
While appealing to the State government to fund the service-oriented organization with the necessary materials including granting them advertorial means, Ugorji pointed out that no media outfit survives without adverts noting that with better funding that the Parastatals would generate revenue to the state coffers and possibly pay its workers.
