Abia Monarchs Lament Fallen Standard of Traditional Institution, Rise To Reform System

Traditional Rulers under the aegis of Royal Renaissance Group, an Integrity group, has moved to reform the traditional institution, restoring it’s lost glory as well as helping it gain its  pride of place in Abia.
Seeing the recent misconduct and low carriage exhumed by some royal fathers,as a result of the decline in the standard of the traditional institution, the group was formed to pursue the vision of reformation of the required standards and appropriate behaviors in the traditional institution.
At its monthly meeting hosted by the Secretary of the group and Traditional Ruler of Eziama/Mgbaja Autonomous Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, Eze Chiabuotu Emenike, the group re-emphasized it’s commitment to champion a new course in the kingship institution of Abia State.
In an interview with the Chairman of the Royal Renaissance Group, Eze Bobby Aguocha, who  was represented by his Secretary, Eze Chiabuotu Emenike, said the group started in 2022, with the aim of changing the trajectory of the traditional institution in the State and as well, revitalize and revamp the system.

According to him, the traditional institution in Abia State has been engulfed with royal fathers with questionable characters and the group is geared to correct the wrong by showcasing the acceptable moral conduct befitting of a traditional head.
He said the body is not a parallel body to the Traditional Rulers Council, but a respectful association of like minds who are championing change in the larger traditional council and also setting some kind of standard by their conduct, carriage among others.
Eze Aguocha frowned at the unacceptable behaviours of some monarchs most especially in their public conduct, speech and general disposition which have brought suspicion in the quality of Ezes.
“We believe Ezes are suppose to carry themselves with carriage, be an example to their community, conduct themselves, dress and speak in the public properly. But the reverse has been the case overtime in our revered institution and we are moved to bring the desired changes in the traditional stool of Abia State”.
He added that their membership cuts across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, with a campaign to raise the ethical behavior of Ezes in Abia State.
“Alot of Ezes have indicated interest to join us,but we are careful about our selection,so we don’t bring in people that will jeopardize our vision”,the monarch stated.
Eze Aguocha further charged community leaders to raise the bars for the selection of traditional rulers that will represent the community well and as well, bring a good name or image to the community.
He, however, re-emphasized that becoming a member of the group is not based on wealth accumulation, education or class, but centers on good conduct and carriage.
The Monarch restated that the association would do a lot of good to the traditional system, apart from repositioning and lifting up it’s standards,it would help to change the behaviors of other monarchs who abridge the set standard.
He further commended the State Governor,Dr Alex Otti, for his transformation agenda in Abia, believing it would bring a reform to the Ezeship stool, helping to achieve the goals desired of the kingship stool.
Also, the former chairman of Umuahia North Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Edward Ibeabuchi, said it was high time, sanity be restored to the traditional system of Abia State.

He added that it is an aberration for  royal fathers to conduct themselves in unspeakable manner, pointing that their goal is to show the light and correct the trajectory.
