Abia Ministry Of Environment Task Abians On Environmental Cleanliness

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment, Engr. Iheanyichukwu Ubani has expressed that 90 percent of diseases that had affects most households emanates from dirty environment.

Ubani represented by the Director Environmental Health and Pollution Control, Mr Godson Agharanya made this known in Umuahia North Local Government Council while answering questions from newsmen at the monthly sanitation exercise.

He urged Abians to help not only the government but themselves by keeping their environment clean.

Ubani maintained that cleanliness is next to Godliness and advised the residents not to empty their sewage into the gutters.

He also reminded defaulters of the existence of the environmental laws which prohibits such acts.

According to him, “Ninety percent of communicable diseases we encounter comes from the environment, hence, it behoves on every household to join hands and keep the environment clean”.

He however described this month’s sanitation exercise as successful and warned those who engage in other activities during the exercise to desist forthwith as the Environmental Mobile Court have been established to try offenders accordingly.
