Abia Local Government Councils Appropriation Bill Passed into Law

The Abia State House of Assembly has passed into law H.A.B 4: The Abia State of Nigeria 2023 Local Government Councils Appropriation Bill sponsored by the Majority Leader and member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Mr Okoro Kalu.

 

The passage of the bill which is for a bye law to appropriate the sum of forty two billion, eight hundred and fourty two million, two hundred and eighty-seven thousand one hundred and fourty naira only for the services of the 17 Local Government Councils of Abia State of Nigeria for the year ending December, 31, 2023 and for related purposes followed the presentation and adoption of the report of the House joint committee on Appropriation, Budget and Planning and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as presented by the Chairman and member representing Aba Central, Mr Stephen Ucheonye and the third reading of the bill.

Announcing the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa said the bill when assented to will be deemed to have come into force on the first day of January, 2023.

 

The House also passed into law H.A.B 5: The Greater Aba Development Authority Bill 2023 sponsored by the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa.

 

This followed the conclusion of the consideration of the bill in the committee of the whole and it’s third reading.

 

Announcing the passage after conducting the voice vote on its passage, the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa appreciated his colleagues for their efforts which culminated to the passage adding that when assented to by the Governor, the law will be deemed to have come into force on the 8th day of December, 2023.

The House adjourned its plenary to reconvene on Tuesday next week.
