The lawmaker representing Ukwa-East State Constituency in Abia state House of Assembly (ABHA), Hon. Lewis Chinaemerem Obianyi, has given out scholarships to his constituents.
Hon. Obianyi who is also the chairman, House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), noted that the essence of the gesture was to scale up Human Capital Development in the area and secure the future of Ndoki youths among others.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the former chairman, Ukwa-East Local Government Area (LGA), Abia state, maintained that he is committed towards fulfilling his campaign promises to his constituents, adding that the scholarships was part of it.
In his words: “This scheme is part of the programme to mark my one year in the legislative business in ABHA and it would produce 10 graduates from the constituency with one graduate per each ward”.
He implored the first phase of students admitted into the Maritime department of Abia state Polytechnic to be focused and disciplined with their studies and make Ndoki land proud.
In their separate remarks; some of the beneficiaries; Daniel Chiwetara Chinedu and Ekwueme Emmanuel Chukwuemeka thanked God for using Hon Lewis Obianyi at this time to help them achieve their educational pursuit, insisting that they would not take it for granted.
They applauded his numerous life changing efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the poor masses and further prayed for God’s blessings for the Ndoki-born lawmaker.
They urged other leaders from the Ukwa-East LGA to join hands to sustain this gesture.
