In fulfillment of a major campaign promise, the Member representing Ukwa East State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lewis Obianyi, has officially flagged off the construction of the Obohia Ndoki Mini-Stadium. The project, described by the lawmaker as his “legacy project,” is aimed at boosting grassroots sports development and fostering unity in the constituency.
The flag-off ceremony, held in the heart of Obohia Ndoki community, attracted stakeholders, community leaders, youths, members of the Anglican clergy, and political supporters.
While addressing the crowd, Hon. Obianyi reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to Ukwa East. He emphasized the socio-economic and cultural importance of the stadium, noting that Obohia Ndoki has long served as the sporting hub of the constituency.
“This project is not just a campaign promise; it is my legacy to the people. It will enhance youth development, promote unity, and reposition our constituency in the sporting map of the state,” Hon. Obianyi stated.
Bishop Flags Off Project, Commends Youthful Leadership
The project was formally flagged off by His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Manasses Okere, Anglican Bishop of Ukwa Diocese, who lauded the lawmaker’s energetic and focused approach to governance.
“In a short time, Hon. Obianyi has shown commitment and integrity in service. This stadium project is yet another proof of his dedication,” Bishop Okere said, offering prayers for wisdom, strength, and continued growth in the lawmaker’s leadership journey.

Speaking on behalf of the women, Hon. Stella Igbokwe, former Transition Chairman of Ukwa East Local Government, described Hon. Obianyi as a “pragmatic and people-oriented lawmaker,” encouraging him to remain steadfast and committed to good governance.
Also speaking, Chief Enyinna Benson, Chairman of the Obohia Council of Mbichiriezi, lauded the lawmaker’s integrity and pledged the community’s full support toward the successful completion of the stadium.

Former member of the Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, also praised Hon. Obianyi for his “humility, effectiveness, and swift delivery of promises” despite his brief time in office.
