The lawmaker representing Ukwa East State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lewis Obianyi has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP).
The defection was formally announced during plenary on the floor of the House on Tuesday, where Hon. Obianyi’s letter of defection was read and acknowledged by the Assembly leadership. The development marks a significant shift in the political alignment within the Abia legislature.
In his notification, the lawmaker cited his decision to join the Labour Party as part of a broader realignment in response to evolving political realities within the state. His move further strengthens the Labour Party’s presence in the Assembly and underscores the ongoing reshaping of party influence in Abia State.
