Abia State Govt. Hails Research as Major Instrument for Development

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, has described research as a major instrument that drives development. The Commissioner who played host yesterday to the National Mathematical Center Ethno- Mathematics Research Group from Abuja, led by Professor Nkechi Agwu also stated that the state Government, led by Dr. Alex Otti would always partner with any worthy institution, whose aim is to add value to the socio-economic well-being of the State.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, who was represented by the Director in charge of the Ministry, Deacon Sunny Kalu, used the platform to call on investors to troop into  Abia State to invest, as Governor Otti-led Administration has created an enabling environment that would facilitate their business ventures to thrive, as well as bear manifold fruits.

Speaking on behalf of the Research Group, Prof. Nkechi Agwu, who thanked the Ministry for the warm reception accorded them, disclosed that the team was in Abia State to empirically collect data on the culture, artifacts, and other exciting materials, with a view to relating and simplifying the teaching and learning of Mathematics in Nigerian Schools.

Prof Agwu said the team would be visiting some traditional rulers, historic artifacts, and cultural sites across the length and breadth of the state.

Those present during the visit include the State Director of Information, Comrade John Emejor, Directors of the Ministry, among others.
