Abia House of Assembly passes economy driven bills into law

Abia State House of Assembly has passed three pertinent bills into law that will strengthen security and engenders economic development in the State.

 

The bills were HAB 58, Abia State Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Commission law,  ASSMEC, HAB 60, Close Circuit Television, CCTV, law and HAB 68, Abia State Examination Development Commission law.

 

Speaking with journalists shortly after passing the bills into laws, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, pointed out that one of the pillars of agenda of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration is to strengthen trade and commerce with a view that it would fastrack economic development to the  benefit abians.

 

Kalu further added that the Abia House of Assembly is striving hard to establish smooth platform to implement most of the policies that would drive these laws and developing same for the purposes of bettering the lots of abians.

 

He, therefore, expressed optimism that the ASSMEC and CCTV laws would help actualize the Enyimba economic city fast as well as beef up security and checkmate criminal related activities in the State.

 

Lending their voices in favour of the laws passed, the sponsors of the ASSMEC and CCTV laws, the members representing Ugwunagbo State Constituency and Aba North State Constituency, Hon. Munachim  Alozie and Dr. Mrs. Blessing Nwagba, expressed happiness that the bills that emanated from them have become laws.

 

While thanking their colleagues for understanding the importance of the bills passed into law, they said those laws would further help sustain the vision of making Abia the economic hub for small and medium scale enterprises and equally solve security challenges in the State.

 

They, however, hailed the Speaker for his leadership and managerial prowess in handling some factors that would have hindered the passage of the bills.
