Abia Govt To Rehabilitate Infrastructure At NYSC Orientation Camp

Abia Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu says the state government would deploy necessary resources to rehabilitate the infrastructure in the NYSC orientation camp, Bende Local Government Area of the state.

Ikpeazu who stated this when the Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abia, Mrs Bona Fasakin paid him a visit at the Government House Umuahia said that the state government would continue to partner with the agency to promote youth development in the state and nation.

“I am optimistic that we will achieve top quality infrastructure to ensure that the orientation activities are conducted in a conducive environment.

“Part of the money will be released to carryout intervention measures to check erosion menace, road construction and provide steady power supply,” he said.

The Governor who charged Corps members to engage in ventures that will enable them acquire entrepreneurial skills during their service year,used the occasion to reveal plans by the state government to inaugurate the Abia Automated Shoe Factory in December this year.

According to him, that the Automated Shoe Factory would address the issue of achieving consistency in quality and quantity of shoes manufactured in the state adding that the project would play a pivotal role in tackling unemployment and boosting the internally generated revenue of the state.

He described trade and commerce as the main stay of the state adding that he would be glad if entrepreneurship became part of every Corp member in Abia.

Earlier, Mrs Fasakin thanked the state government for the cordial relationship existing between the state government and the agency.

She stressed the need for government to constitute a state governing board as well as prompt regular payment of subventions and state allowance to Corp members.
