Abia Govt To Commence Payment Of Busary Allowances For Law Students

 

Abia State Government has commenced compilation of its Students studying Law at the various Universities in the Country in preparation towards payment of Bursary Allowances. 

Chairman of the State Scholarship Board, Chief Empire Kanu who revealed this at a press briefing in Umuahia disclosed that the process of compilation is currently ongoing.

 

He added that on completion, all Law School Students from Abia State will recieve the Busary Allowances as directed by the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

 

Ambassador Empire Kanu while presenting a scorecard on the successes and challenges of the scholarship board said although it’s major set back was the Covid-19  pandemic which affected both local and international activities, the board has broken grounds in providing quality education for the less privileged students within the society.

 

According to him, more than 50 students have successfully  enrolled and are currently studying in some Australian and Indian Universities abroad.

 

Chief Kanu added that the board is procuring Australian Visas for thirty Abia state indigenes before the end of August 2021, while working with twenty five Abia indigenes for Indian schools.

 

He further revealed that the second batch of
scholarship application for Indian and Australian schools will commence by July/August 2021 at the boards office ,ASUBEB Complex Ogurube Layout Umuahia, adding that the local scholarship Programme for the secondary category will commence by September this year.

 

Chief Kanu commended Governor Ikpeazu for ensuring that Abia indigenes have quality education assuring that the board will not fail in their assignment.

 

Contributing, the Board Secretary Mr Chukwuka Daniel said that the Board is partnering 5 Australian universities including Flinders University, University of New England,James Cook University,Torrens University and Kaplan Business University and two Universities from India including Sri-Sai University and University of Technology.

 

Sharing their experiences some beneficiaries of the scholarship program including Anyim Mascot and Esther Amarachi Okezie studying at Sri-Sai University India, and Okpanku Joseph studying at Florida University Australia, while appreciating the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the board for the opportunity to further their education abroad, promised to make the State proud irrespective of the challenges.

 

Also presented to the press for an offer of scholarship to study abroad at the event was a talented young engineer, Solomon Ukoha from Ohafia LGA who constructed a prototype transformer that generates electricity.
