Abia govt to collaborate with NLC on workers welfare

Abia State Government has said it is prepared to collaborate with the the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to ensure that issues concerning workers welfare are properly taken care of.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. ACB Agbazuere who gave the assurance when he received a delegation of the NLC, Abia State Council, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Umuahia,assured that the Ikpeazu led administraion would do everything within its powers to ensure that workers in Abia State are comfortable.
While stressing the need for reorientation of Labour leaders and retraining of the Civil Service workforce,the Chief of staff called on all workers who have challenges to channel all complaints to the chairman of the NLC, who he said would report to the government for necessary action.
He called on union members, including the factional group of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) to desist from all forms of protests and divisions among them, assuring that the present adminstration has unveiled a road map for tackling issues pertaining to payment of workers salaries and salaries and pensions.
Dr. Agbazuere assured that with his appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor, he would bring his experience to bear and ensure that Government House is strengthened and reorganized for optimal result.
He urged labour leaders to sustain their support to the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration adding that Government would ensure the completion of the NLC State Secretariat in no distance time.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Uchenna Obigwe said the labour leaders came to congratulate the Chief of Staff on his appointment as he was their former leader.
Comrade Obigwe described the Chief of Staff as a tested, trusted and experienced administrator and labour leader who is capable of contributing greatly to the Ikpeazu administration,pledging their support and co-operation to take the State to greater heights.
