Ten New Permanent Secretaries have been sworn into the Abia State Civil Service with a charge to drive and support the state Government policy and bring dividends of democracy to Abia people.
The Newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries include:Isiakpu, Uzoma Livingstone,
Enyioko, Benson Ugochukwu,
Engr. Chika Friday Okey,Agbara Charles Chukwudi and Mrs Onyegbu Clara Chioma.
Others are:
Aaron Ikechi Bestman,
Okpe Arum Okpe,
Mr Ugwuzor Ugochukwu ,
Mrs Alaribe Ngozi Victoria and
Onyeama Franklin.
Speaking at the Ceremony held at Micheal Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu congratulated the newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries for their recent attainment having reached the peak of their careers as civil servants in the State Civil service.
Ikpeazu said: “On your shoulders we have entrusted great responsibilities to drive State policy and bring dividends of democracy to the people.
“In time past, we usually see two classes of people; those who believe that they are exonerated from the blames of government that is not doing well and those who are participants in trying to create a better polity and make life better for our people.
“As you have become permanent Secretaries today, you have joined in making the Abia State of our dream and you can no longer stand in the fence therefore you have become part and parcel of the purveyor that drives economic development especially to the hinterlands of our state.
“I wish to ask you to take up your responsibilities with maturity and candor and drive and support government Policy
in their various ministries.
“If this government succeeds tomorrow, you will be part of the success story, but if we don’t succeed as much as we desire, then you are also part of the challenge”.
The Governor urged them to carry other staff of their ministries along so as to realize in full government’s policy and programmes for the state.
He expressed confidence that the crop of Permanent Secretaries are capable and determined to acquit themselves creditably in the assignments they will be given going forward.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Deacon Uzoma Livingstone Isiakpu thanked the Governor for the elevation and honour done them and assured that they will bring to bear their wealth of experience in moving the state forward.
He pledged their commitment and unreserved loyalty to the present administration adding that they will work in tandem with the dictates of the civil service.
