Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said that his adminstration is prioritizing the issue of Security with a view to ensuring the safety of lives and properties of Abia citizens and a crime-free society.
Governor Ikpeazu who was speaking at Mgboko, Obingwa LGA Headquarters during the grand finale of the sensitization workshop against criminal activities in Abia Communities said the workshop is necessary especially as security has become very precarious hence the need for all hands to be on deck in achieving a crime-free society.
He called on the citizens to be security conscious and volunteer timely information to security agencies to enable them perform optimally.
Governor Ikpeazu informed that his government is willing to support any Youth willing to venture into genuine business that will make them self sustaining and useful to themselves and the society.
He said that his administration is taking the issue of security seriously and will not condone any act of criminality in the state.
Also Speaking, the state Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede, commended the state government for organizing the sensitization workshop aimed at ensuring a crime free state.
According to CP Agbede, the workshop is a great success having toured the 17 Local Government Areas of the state to drum support from the rural communities on the need to secure all parts of the state.
She thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for making logistics available to security agencies operating in the state with the aim of ensuring a safe Abia.
In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Programme and Chief Of Staff to the Governor, Associate Professor ACB Agbazuere while noting that the prevailing insecurity across the country is worrisome, said that the state government is not leaving any stone unturned on issues bothering on security hence the need to sensitize the citizens.
He maintained that the primary responsibility of Government is security of lives and properties as well as the welfare of the citizens and urged the people to complement government’s efforts by giving relevant information to security agencies.
In his address, the Chairman Obingwa Local Government Area, Mr Michael Nwoke commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for prioritizing the issue of security which earned him the award as the best Governor on security by the Business Day Newspapers and promised to replicate same at the local government level.
