The Abia State Ministry of Tertiary Education has concluded plans to set up a Research Hub at the Osisioma Campus of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (OOPOLY), Aba. This is part of efforts to improve research, innovation, and overall development in the institution.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, made this known on Tuesday during a meeting with members of the management team, shortly after receiving updates on ongoing projects at the Osisioma Campus.
According to the Rector, the Ministry has already made funds available for the Research Hub. The Ministry also plans to furnish completed campus buildings and support the construction of internal roads to improve infrastructure within the campus.

Prof. Okoro also announced plans to establish a Demonstration School for staff children. The school will provide education from crèche to secondary school level. He said the project is aimed at improving staff welfare and creating a better learning environment.
On academic matters, the Rector directed officers in charge of students’ records to ensure that all outstanding results are uploaded immediately.
“We cannot move the Polytechnic forward when some actions are slowing down the process,” he warned.
Speaking on the Polytechnic’s plans for the year, Prof. Okoro emphasized that the full relocation of academic activities to the Osisioma Campus remains the institution’s top priority.
He praised the management team for their dedication and expressed confidence that the Polytechnic would achieve more this year than in previous years.
