Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has flagged off the construction of the 6.5 kilometers Umuaro- Nenu road in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.
This is barely one week after he promised that work will soon commence on the road.
Recall that Governor Ikpeazu had last week Sunday during a thanksgiving service organized by the Abia representative at the Revenue Mobilization,Allocation and Fiscal Commission RAMFAC, Dr Chris Akomas, at the United Evangelical Church,Nenu Superitendency Headquarters, Obingwa, promised that the state government will commence construction work on the road.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony,Governor Ikpeazu while noting that the road is of significant economic value to the people, said a total of 10 kilometers work will be executed to neighbouring Akwa Ibom state.
He expressed belief that the contractor handling the project will do a thorough job and called on the youths of the area to give him the needed support to ensure that the job is not obstructed in a way.
Former Deputy Governor of the state and Abia State representative at the Revenue Mobilization,Allocation and fiscal Commission RAMFAC Dr Chris Akomas, while thanking the Governor on behalf of the people of Obingwa, for fulfilling his promise, noted that this is the first time the road is being constructed since the creation of the state.
He further thanked Governor Ikpeazu for ensuring democracy dividends to the people of the state and expressed optimism that the contractor handling the project will do a good job.
