Schools have been urged to ensure that they collate and submit the data of their scholars, so as to have appropriate census which will also ensure that Abia State does not loose out in Federal government and Foreign incentives.
In their separate speeches,the Commissioner for Basic Education, Hon. Ukwu Rocks Emma and the Commissioner for Post Basic Education, Barr. Chijioke Mark, gave the charge recently at Ibeku High School, Umuahia ,during the National Association Of Proprietors Of Private School (NAPPS), stakeholders meeting,added that data collection is not used for taxation or for penalizing of schools,rather it helps in the growth of the state and also to get benefits from foreign agencies and federal government.
They further pleaded with NAPPS to give proper data of their schools for the growth of the state and any one found violating this order will be penalized.
Commissioner for Basic Education further added that every private school in the state has to register their schools through Abia school Com. portal before the end of second term.
According to him, this will enable the state government to know the number of schools in the state and plan adequately for the growth of education in the state.
Furthermore,Mark said that for registration of NECO and WAEC examination, every student must have National Identification Number (NIN).
He, therefore, urged teachers to make sure that students who do not have NIN, do not register for it, in the forth-coming external examination.
Post Basic Education Boss stated that a new board which will complement what ÀSUBEB does at the higher level had been commissioned,adding that the work of the commission is to build schools for senior secondary schools across the state.
” It may interest you to know that what we have in primary school to Junior Secondary School is building up a commission called Senior Secondary Commission Board”, he added.
The Commissioner for Post Basic Education, while stating the need for inclusive of sports activities in various schools,urged all to ensure that their schools have the needed facilities and play field,as the Ministry is set out to make sure that this year ,there will be sports competition covering both private and public schools and winners will go with prizes.
In his speech the president of NAPPS ,pleaded with the stakeholders to comply with the rules of the government, noting that it is for the good of the state and the schools in general.
