Abia Govt Begins Interview Exercise for Health Workers Recruitment

The Abia State Civil Service Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has commenced an interview exercise for health workers who applied for employment into the state civil service.

Chairman of the Commission and State Focal Person for Human Capital Development, Dr. Eno Jerry Eze, disclosed that the exercise followed the recently concluded computer-based test (CBT), noting that only applicants who met the cut-off mark were invited for the interviews.

According to her, the interview, which began on September 12, 2025, will run until September 26, 2025. She explained that Governor Alex Otti had approved a waiver for 771 positions. Out of the 2,035 applicants, 1,735 were invited for the interview, with about 1,400 turning up.

Dr. Eze emphasized that only the most qualified candidates would be selected, stressing that the present administration is determined to recruit professionals who will add value to the state’s health sector.

“If the number of successful candidates exceeds the available slots, the best will be employed, while others may be placed on reserve for future consideration,” Pst Eze explained.

Describing the process as historic, she noted the high level of transparency, pointing out that CBT scores were made available to candidates immediately after the test.

Some candidates, including Dr. Augustine Johnson Chukwuebuka and Nurse Ekeanyanwu Chinwenwa, lauded the exercise as seamless and transparent. They commended the organizers for their professionalism and expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for promoting fairness in the recruitment process.
