ABIA GOVERNOR INAUGURATES WORK AND PROJECT EVALUATION COMMITTEE

Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu ,has charged the newly inaugurated Work and Project Evaluation Committee to monitor and evaluate on – going road projects in the State.

Inaugurating the Committee at Government House, Umuahia, the Governor, represented by the Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu,urged the Committee to oversee and monitor all the ongoing projects and moribund factories in the State and report its recommendations to the government .

He said that government is poised to complete all the ongoing road projects,as well as, resuscitate moribund factories in Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu who stated that the assignment of the committee is a serious one
,emphasized the need for the Committee to pay special attention on roads like Ururuka, Aba Road in Umuahia, Etitiama-Nkporo, Porthacourt Road, Obikabia, Aba-Owerri Road, Osusu and Eziukwu Road ,as well as, Shoe factory in Aba.

The Committee which has been given three weeks to execute their assignment has Chief Eziuche Ubani as Chairman, Mr. Obinna Oriaku, Dr. Aham Uko, Sir Emma Nwabuko and Mr. Chinenye Nwogu as members, while the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu serves as Secretary.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Works, Chief Eziuche Ubani,assured that the Committee would do its best to identify what is left in completing the ongoing roads in the State, maintaining that, that would assist government to hasten the completion of the projects and resume new ones.

Chief Ubani said the Committee would equally advise government on how to establish a pilot shoe factory in Aba which private individuals would copy to better the Abia economy.
He appreciated the Governor for appointing them and assured that the Committee would perform.
