Abia Government Strengthens Ties with COREN to Advance Engineering Standards

The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to raising engineering standards through a strengthened partnership with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

During a meeting in Umuahia with members of the COREN Abia State Technical Committee, Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, emphasized the administration’s commitment to fostering innovation, professionalism, and quality in engineering practices across the state.

Engr. Emetu highlighted the critical role of collaboration in building what he described as the “New Abia,” where infrastructure and technical excellence go hand in hand. He assured the COREN delegation of continued government backing in their oversight and advisory roles on public projects.

In response, Engr. Victor Ihediwa, FNSE, Chairman of the Abia State Technical Committee of COREN, thanked the state government for its ongoing support, especially during the Committee’s inauguration. He praised the leadership of Governor Alex Otti for prioritizing engineering integrity in state development efforts and reiterated COREN’s readiness to contribute technical expertise where needed.

The meeting was attended by senior aides to the Deputy Governor and members of the COREN Technical Committee.
