Abia government restates warning on ban against Illegal Collection of Revenue in Ohafia, other council areas

Abia state deputy governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has restated the state government hard stance against all forms of illegal collection of fees from motorists by certain impersonators in Ohafia Local Government Area purportedly on behalf of the state government.

Engr Emetu said that he was notified of a recent incident event involving two individuals assaulted by youths from Ebem Ohafia, Ohafia local government, in response to these unlawful activities.

The deputy governor strongly condemned this illegal practice and urges all those involved to desist immediately from this ugly act and restated that the Abia State Government does not authorize any individual or group to collect any fees or levies on its behalf without proper documentation and official endorsement from the Abia State Board of Internal Revenue.

According to him, the actions of these unauthorized collectors not only violate the law but also undermine the trust and cooperation between the government and the citizens.
