Abia Government Ready To Partner With World Bank , Donor Agencies To Empower Women In Rural Areas.

Abia State Governor’s Wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, said that the present administration led by Governor Otti, is ready to partner with international organizations like World Bank and other donor agencies to empower women and the downtrodden in the society.

The Governor’s wife stated this in Ohafia Council Headquarters at a programme organised by the Nigeria for Women Project when there team from Abuja visited the LGA.

She said that her office is willing to support the project hence it is geared towards lifting women out of poverty but task them to replicate same in the 17, LGA of the state.

Mrs. Otti, also disclosed that the programme will help Gov. Otti, fulfill his campaign promises to Abians in terms of empowerment, skills acquisition and capacity development.

The Governor’s wife however, thanked the organisation for coming to Abia, assuring them of enabling environment for Abia women to key in to the programme.

In their remarks, the national leader, Nigeria for Women Project, Mr. Michael Ilesanmi and Mrs. Nwogu Ihediwa, said that the programme would be scaled up to reach even those in the rural areas.

In her contribution, the Ohafia LGA coordinator, Mrs. Rebecca Uma, said that the programme will help alleviate poverty especially in the rural areas and advised Abia state government to give the programme a boost.

Also one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Chinyere Okorie, who spoke to newsmen, thanked the leaders of the Nigeria for Women Project and the wife of Abia Governor for supporting the programme which is geared towards making life easier for them.

In a related development, the Governor’s wife visited the palace of HRH. Eze E U. Imaga, the Asaga Community Health Centre and also interacted with the Affinity Group of Nigeria for women projet.
