Abia government extols partnership with the church.

 

Abia state deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has assured that the state government would continue to sustained the existing relationship between the present government and the Churches particularly the Catholic Church.

Speaking during when the Executive members of Umuahia Diocesan Council of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) led by their Chaplain, The Very Rev Christopher Okeke paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Umuahia, he attributed the current peaceful atmosphere prevalent in the state to the wonderful and robust relationship existing between the Church and the state.

Sir Oko Chukwu pointed out that government has also through this partnership recorded some transformation in every sectors of the state.

The Deputy Governor said that the collaboration has led to astronomical rise in the standard of education with the handing over of schools back to their original owners including the Catholic Church and expressed happiness that the Church has lived up to government expectations in this regard.

He commended the level of commitment been exhibited by the Church through the Justice Peace and Development (JPANC) in organizing a political forum for the 2019 elections where they conducted a debate among the various political parties as well as interfaced and fine tune some of the policies it has mapped out for the people as commendable.
Sir Oko Chukwu who is also a member of the CMO lauded their show of love and appreciation of the modest achievements recorded by the Dr Okezie Ikpeazu’s led administration and promised to be party to finding solutions to some of the problems confronting the CMO in Umuahia Diocese to enable them assume their rightful leadership positions in the Church.

In their remarks earlier, the Chaplain of Umuahia Diocesan Council of Catholic Men Organization, the Very Rev Father Christopher Okeke and its President Sir Titus Agomuo said they came to felicitate and congratulate deputy and the governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu on their successes both at the 2019 elections and the election tribunal as well as their achievements in office.

They commended the good working relationship and synergy existing between the governor and his deputy which they attributed to his Catholic background and solicit his assistance to the organization to enable them make a difference in the administration and future hosting of their CMO Day as well in changing the development narratives of the CMO in Umuahia Diocese.
