Abia state government has said that it would continue to appreciates and recognised the important roles been played by professional bodies and organizations in the governance of the state by partnering with them for the common good of the citizenry.
The state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu stated this while declaring open the “Architects’ Forum ’10’ 2019” held in Umuahia by the Nigerians Institute of Architects (NIA) Abia state Chapter restated government determination to ensured wide spread provision of basic socio- economic infrastructure that would bring comfort and good living standard for the people.
Represented by his deputy, Sir. Ude Oko Chukwu, the governor charged Architects to sustain the ethos and norms of the profession by ensuring that their services are in line with global best practices in order to enhance the aesthetic value of the built environment for save and habitable environment.
He described the theme of the forum, “Architecture and Millennial Green World Ideologies” as apt and timely considering the phenomenon of climatic change and other critical factors and challenges in the ecology and environment that needed to be addressed for the common good.
The Abia Governor challenged environment developers in the state to always make good uses of architects to minimise some of the abuses in developmental activities.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Institute, Arc. I.O. Ochulo said that the yearly platform has always been a time of rich intellectual harvest and good platform for knowledge enrichment in the field of Architecture or the built environment generally.
Arc .Ochulo said that the theme of the conference was chosen to capture the fact that Architect and professionals of the built environment in our society need to wake up and align with issue of global concern as green world predicates life style and the need to address climate change has become inevitable .
He insisted that they must find a good interface for generating research into building materials that would drive towards Green Architecture and Green World.
