The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed optimism and confidence that Sir. Princewill Ikechukwu Ukaegbu and Sir. Okechukwu Ndukwe will excel as the Archbishop Lay President and Diocesan Lay President of the Methodist Church Nigeria
following their pedigree
In his remarks during the induction ceremony of the duo at Methodist Church Nigeria performed by the Archbishop of Umuahia, His Grace ,the Most Rev. Dr. Chibuzor Opoko further advised them to perform exploits in winning souls to Christ through aggressive evangelism.
The Governor represented by his Deputy Sir Ude Oko Chukwu also charged the newly inducted Lay President of the Methodist Church to lead the laity well and complement the work of the clergy in the Diocese.
Dr. Ikpeazu used the forum to reiterate Government’s willingness to collaborate with the Church and the newly inducted Lay Presidents in the governance of the State and urged the Church to intensify their prayers for the country’s leaders at various levels especially as the nation approaches another electroneering period.
He congratulated the new inductees on their appointment while appreciating the Church’s leadership for the painstaking selection of their Archdiocese and Diocesan lay Presidents.
In his sermon, the Methodist Archbishop, His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Chibuzo Opoko congratulated the newly inductees, reminding them that as co workers in God’s vineyard, they should not compete with the clergy ,but work in synergy to ensure the growth and propagation of the Gospel of Christ .
Preaching on the topic “The Lord is my Shepherd; That’s All I Want, The Most Rev. Dr. Opoko enjoined leaders to always acknowledge the supremacy of God in all their act of governance, while urging the inductees and every Christian to begin to work for God and ensure that God remain all that they will ever need in life.
Responding, the newly inducted Diocesan Lay President and General Manager of Abia State Estate Development Agency ( ABSEDA) Sir. Okechukwu Ndukwe who said he is overwhelmed to be invested and presented as the 8th Diocesan Lay President of the Methodist Church Nigeria, appreciated them for finding him worthy to serve and promised not to betray the trust reposed in him.
The service which also featured the appreciation of Sir. Allan Okpokiri as the Archdiocesan Lay President Emeritus by the Methodist Archbishop attracted the presence of the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial Zone, Chief. T.A Orji represented by Sir. Frank Ibeh, member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, HonJerry Uzosike, the Commissioner for Documentation and strategic Communication, Chief Ugochukwu Emezue, Body of Permanent Secretaries,top govt officials, the clergy and other distinguished personalities.
