Abia Gov commissions ASOPADEC Office,inspects other projects

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has officially commissioned the office headquarters of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission(ASOPADEC).

The two story complex located at Ehimiri housing estate consists of 77 offices ,a boardroom,conference hall and suites.

He pointed out that capacity building is a veritable catalyst for development,noting that the focus of ASOPADEC in providing electricity, water,road construction and capacity building is inline with his administration’s vision.

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Ikpeazu who commended the ASOPADEC board for the milestone achieved said the edifice will create the needed ambiance that will enhance productivity

and spur the staff for greater output.

While commending the board on the launch of their magazine and purchase of 12 sports utility vehicles for board members,the Governor who congratulated candidates of the IJMB program sponsored by the ASOPADEC board urged them to make good use of the opportunity and expressed optimism that they will emerge future leaders of the state.

The Governor however urged the ASOPADEC board to target communities without light and potable water as well as find lasting solution to the problem of bad road network within Ehimiri,close to their office.

In his address, Chairman of the ASOPADEC board, Chief Sam Nwogu said the idea to build a befitting office complex was conceived by the need to provide a conducive environment to enable them discharge their duties efficiently and effectively.

He listed the building and renovation of schools,busary allowance to students,refuse disposal,drilling of boreholes and drainages, scholarship scheme as well as building of civic centers as part of the projects embarked upon by the commission adding that out of over 150 projects embarked by the commission, 50 have been completed.

The ceremony which was chaired by chief Chinwe Nwanganga, featured presentation of sports utility vehicles to board members, launch of the ASOPADEC file Magazine,inauguration of the skills acquisition scheme as well as the inuaguration of 2018/2019 batch of IJMB students.

Governor Ikpeazu thereafter inspected the new zone 9 office complex and the Ozuitem water scheme,the Amauzukwu relief Market in Umuahia, amongst other projects
