Preparations for the highly anticipated 2nd Aba International Trade Fair officially commenced yesterday, as the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, hosted a press conference at his office to unveil the state’s plans and call for stakeholder participation.

Set to run from November 28 to December 27, 2025, at Aba Enyimba City, the trade fair is expected to serve as a dynamic platform for businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors to showcase products and services, forge strategic partnerships, and explore new markets. This year’s theme, “Sustaining the Momentum and Unlocking Abia’s Potentials,” reflects the state’s continued push for economic revitalization and industrial growth.

Engr. Emetu emphasized the fair’s importance in promoting economic development, creating employment opportunities, and attracting both local and international investment to the state. Also speaking at the event, the immediate past Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, now Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Hon. Kingsley Nkwokeocha, described the upcoming edition as the most promising yet. He encouraged private sector participation and assured the public that the organizing committee would work diligently to ensure a successful and impactful event.

A major highlight of the press briefing was the formal introduction of the new Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Salome Nkemakolam Obiukwu, who is expected to bring renewed energy and focus to the ministry’s trade and economic initiatives.
