Abia First Lady Welcomes First Baby of 2025, Advocates for Exclusive Breastfeeding

The wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, welcomed the first baby of the year at the Primary Healthcare Maternity Center in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State. She presented gift items and a cash donation to the baby’s mother to support the child’s care.

 

The baby, Master Zeal Favour Chiudo, was born at exactly 12:08 a.m. on January 1, 2025, weighing 3.5 kg at birth.

 

At the health center, the Governor’s wife expressed her delight in welcoming the first baby of the year, describing it as a moment of joy and blessings for 2025.

 

According to her:
“The birth of a baby brings so much joy to the mother. With the state government’s commitment to improving the primary healthcare sector, I advise the mother to practice exclusive breastfeeding. It offers numerous benefits and helps the baby grow with proper nutrients.”

Three other babies delivered at the same healthcare center also received gift items, baby kits, and cash donations.

 

While praying for the babies, Mrs. Otti urged parents to devote adequate time to raising their children with good morals, ensuring they grow up on the right path.

 

In her remarks, the manager of the health center, Ms. Blessing Adanma, thanked the Governor’s wife for her kind gesture toward the babies and for choosing the center for her visit.

The mother of the first baby of the year, Mrs. Obiuto Favour, from Umuani in Delta State, expressed her joy and gratitude to the Abia First Lady for her visit and donations.

 

In a related development, Mrs. Otti also visited the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, the state capital, where she celebrated three additional newborns. She showered them with gifts and cash donations, describing the children as God’s first blessings to Abia State in 2025.

 

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Maureen Aghukwa, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, and the Mayor of Aba South, Mr. Obilor Anyanwu, commended Mrs. Otti for her contributions. They noted that her efforts complement Governor Alex Otti’s strides in the health sector, which are already reducing maternal and child mortality rates in the state.
