The Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, said that the government of Abia state led by Dr. Alex Otti, is poised to ensure that Maternal and newborn Mortality is eradicated.

The Governor’s wife made the statement when she visited Mrs. Elizabeth Onwudiwe from Mbano in Imo state who gave birth to quadruplet at the Federal Medical Center Umuahia.
In her words, this is what we demonstrated few days ago at Umuahia South LGA when we flag off the Maternal/Newborn health week to sensitise even the pregnant women on how to care for themselves during pregnancy.
According to her, “I am here to show support to the woman and her family though she is not conscious now but I know with facilities and capacities of personnels here at FMC, she will pull through.
” I have also seen the children and they are doing well, we will support them financially and pay the bills” Mrs. Otti said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi, said that with the facilities in the hospital every effort is geared towards reviving the woman.
He explained that her complications was caused by the number of children she was delivered of.
However, the husband of the woman, Mr. Chuma Onwudiwe, thanked the Governor’s wife for her support and prayed God to bless her.
